Walk of Remembrance – Julia and Gary's Sponsored Challenge

At The Bluebell Circle, we are always deeply moved when people choose to honour Sofia and support our mission in such personal and meaningful ways. Today, we want to share a story very close to our hearts.
This September, our dear friends and neighbours Julia and her trusted “sherpa” Gary will be taking on an incredible sponsored challenge—walking the final 115km of the Camino de Santiago into Santiago de Compostela. They’ll be joined by their American son, Rheagan, and together they will carry the memories of those they love most.
For Julia and Gary, this is far more than a physical challenge. Every step will be in memory of those no longer with us—most especially our beautiful girl, Sofia. In her short but shining time here, Sofia touched countless hearts with her light, warmth, and spirit. She was—and always will be—so very loved.
As they walk, Julia and Gary will lay some of Sofia’s ashes to rest along the route, placing special stones and shells to honour her and other cherished loved ones. It will be a journey of remembrance, love, and reflection—one that carries Sofia’s spirit with every step.
Their walk is also a step towards something lasting: raising funds for The Bluebell Circle, a project to create a memorial garden for Sofia and the Halling community. This garden will be a place to pause, reflect, and celebrate the lives of those we love.
We are so proud of Julia and Gary—not just for the miles they will walk, but for the love, courage, and devotion they carry for Sofia and for all those who are missed.
