Our First The Bluebell Circle Meeting: A Heartfelt Beginning

On the evening of June 26th, something really special happened at The Five Bells—our very first meeting as The Bluebell Circle. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but I was completely overwhelmed—in the best way—by the turnout, the generosity of ideas, and the heartfelt support from everyone who came (and even those who couldn’t make it but still sent thoughts via our survey).

It was clear right away: this is a group of people who truly care.

What started as a quiet idea among a few mums and neighbours has already begun to grow into something much bigger. Over food and drinks, we shared our hopes for a space that honours Sofia, gives back to the community, and brings joy to children and families for years to come.

What We Talked About

The evening included lots of shared memories, and some exciting early plans.

We discussed two big upcoming events:

  • A summer fundraiser, possibly at the Working Men’s Club, with music, stalls, and community fun.

  • A Light Walk in November, around Sofia’s birthday—a glowing, family-friendly evening walk that will include a very special firework tribute.

There was also a lot of discussion about the unique throne-style bench, designed in part by local schoolchildren, along with ideas for play equipment like slides, tunnels, and quiet hideaways—directly inspired by what the children themselves told us they’d love.

We ended the evening with a walk to the site we hope to transform. Standing there together, ideas began to come to life—from carved toadstools and benches for parents, to plans for a sculpture made from a beautiful, locally sourced tree trunk.

Looking Ahead

There’s still so much to do, and we’re just at the beginning. But the passion in the room that night left no doubt: this group is ready to make something beautiful happen.

To everyone who joined us, thank you. For your time, your energy, your ideas, and your hearts. If you couldn’t be there but want to be involved, please do reach out—we’d love to hear from you.

This project isn’t just about building something physical. It’s about community, connection, and creating a space filled with life, love, and laughter. Sofia would’ve loved that.
